Based on that info, I would still think it is the fuel pump and here is why. Before you replaced it, you had to use starter fluid to get it started and then it ran fine until the pressure bled off. Then use starter fluid again and it runs again. This shows that the pump just didn't have the ability to build the needed pressure but one it had the pressure it ran fine. This also, shows that everything else in the system was working as it should as well.
Now that you have the new pump, it starts but shuts off. Almost like it can build the pressure but does not continue to run. You didn't have this issue before so unless something else just happened to fail, I would blame the new pump as it was the only thing changed when the issue changed.
Does that make sense? Clearly it could be wrong if we are missing something but if this is what we have to go on, that is all that makes sense to me.
