I have the truck listed above powerstroke and after about driving 10 miles the last couple days it seems to just fall on its face and then after about .2 miles it will pick back up and run fine the rest of the time. I had an issue with the truck doing this when it was first started and replaced the FICM and it has been fine for about the last 5 months since it was replaced up until the last couple days. I have also had some of the injector replaced 3,5,7, and 8. I have a scan tool and pulled some codes and was wondering what I can do to possibly fix The truck before I just start throwing money into it. The codes are p0266, p0269, p0272 and p1294. Any help is appreciated thanks

Good afternoon,

I am very surprised that all the injectors were not replaced. Usually, when one fails on one side, you replace them all.

Anyway, can you do a buzz test on the injectors to test them with your scan tool?

A very common issue and is identified by the 1294 is the harness at the valve cover. The pass through for the injectors harness runs through the valve cover gasket. Were they changed and the connections checked?

That would be the second thing I would do after the buzz test.

Yes, I have done a buzz test that’s where I got the 1294 code. The person that did the ficm said it looked like they had been but he didn’t so not sure when they may have been changed. Do you know why I may be getting the other 3 codes when I do a fuel contribution test on them. And why it might only act up after driving a little while and not at start up also. Thanks

Okay, you will have to do a manual compression test on those cylinders to be sure there is sufficient compression. That is where you start.

It could also be low voltage to the injectors from the connector on the vale cover.

Would it be the valve cover on driver side or passenger side that I needed to check the harness

Hello, I have seen this problem before, it sounds like you have an injector or an injector driver that is failing. You will need to test all the injectors.

https://www.2carpros.com/how_to/how_to_check_fuel_injector.htm

If that checks ok the PCM could be bad. Do you have a check engine light on?

I would check them both. Both sides were removed during the previous repair.

Look at the terminals and check to be sure there are no damaged terminals.

Ignition coil replaced. Didn't help. Changed plugs and had been running lean. Changed fuel filter. Didn't help. Check fuel pressure and was fine. Sluggish and vaulve chatter on taking off. Hook scanner to the computer and didn't show a code, but it showed the timing was very low when it was chattering. Also replaced the catalitic converter. Didn't help. Now what?
