My engine does not crank over - starter not working?

If it does not go out, then the anti theft system is activated. either your key lost the password or the key is bad.

Do you have another key to try?

No only one. My son lost the other one. If I leave it in the on position after I try the starter. It will slow down and go off after a few minutes. I guess I am at the mercy of a Ford dealer. Thanks a lot for helping me.

Yes, they will have to re program the theft system to your key. Consider getting a second key.

when i turn the key all dash lights come on but all i get is a clicking noise -engine will not turn over

The clicking noise is your starter solenoid.
Your battery is probably low. Try to jump start the car, or recharge the battery.
If you have a voltmeter, you can also check the voltage at the battery to confirm; it should be 12.6V. If your battery is the original one, it's very likely at the end of its life; so if it's low and jump starting the car doesn't work you may need a new battery.

If that doesn't help, reply back and we'll look at other possible problems.
