I was rear ended at very low speed, nothing happened to the car but my turn signal stopped flashing. Lights turn on but it does not flash even for hazard light. What is wrong and how can I fix it?

Hello and thanks for donating!

The most likely culprit here would be a faulty Turn signal/ Hazard Relay. Your vehicle's turn signal / hazard relay is located in the under-dash fuse / relay box. That box will be found under the left side of the dash.

It appears no one carries relay for turn signal for 2004 Honda Civic-VP. Went to a dealer they said it would be $40 and they will have to order it.
I was surprised that with small rear end impact how would this relay blow out... SO I checked all wires of rear turn signals and near the relay which is under the dash... Made sure they are tight... Guess what the turn signal is flashing again properly...
Lesson lerned make sure all your wiring is connected properly, I guess even smallest disconnection might cause flasher not to flash...

If they come on and won't flash, replace the signal flasher.

Hi acadian,

Does it happen when turned to either side or only one side?

It could be a bad/loose connection somewhere or a faulty switch or relay depending on what the hazards do when it is malfunctioning

If the hazards stops too, then the relay is bad.

Yes it could be the flasher/hazard relay. Or it could be fuse #2 or #5 in the under hood fuse box. Here is a guide to help test the fuse and the fuse and flasher location below.

Check out the diagrams (Below). Please let us know what you find.

Thank you for your response. I figured it out (me, a girl, using the internet-I did not take my car to a mechanic or the dealer). The flasher was in the fuse box under the steering column. I had to order the part from Honda, only $17.95, and I replaced the old one. Thanks for your help.

the car comes with fuel smoke when raised and drive. The scanner shows the above code. we have changed the distributor and try the brain box and the injector mouth, still the fuel consumption did not change and the smoke keeps coming.

Re is it smoking from ? That code is for crank sensor . You will need a lab scope to check it @ the sensor look fore a good clean ac signal the connector is under the intake manifold it will be 2 wires if it checks out good @ the sensor you will need to check it @@ the computer

The past 3 days my driver side turn signal and lights both front and back have been blinking fast. The Passenger side is just fine. I replaced the fuse, but the problem persists. I've had the car for more than a year now and there was no problem until now. The bulbs both work and flash fast at the same time. What should I do to fix it?
Thanks for your help

Before spending money on new bulbs, try switching both sides, left to right. If, even after the bulb switch the driver side is blinking fast, then you need to replace the flasher unit. If the passenger side is blinking fast, replace the bulbs.

So my right turn signal is flashing very fast and the left side seems to flash normally. The right side will slow down when the headlights are on or when the brakes are depressed, but clearly their 'on' time is not normal. All lights front and back are lit (including running lights and brake lights). I've replace the double filiment bulbs in front with no sucess & cleaned the ground connection in front with no sucess. Emergency flashers work fine. Occassionally the left turn signal will not work when initally turned on, but most of the time they work without hesitation and at the proper speed... I've looked at the Haynes electrical scemetic and it appears the relay is a signal pole relay that should work identically regardless of side it's servicing... So now I'm confused, could this failure mode be an indication of a bad relay or should I be chasing a different problem area?

Try this, turn right signal lever on. go outside the and check visually which among the the three right signal bulbs is not blinking,The front, side, rear? clean connectors and check bulb resistance.Replace any connector or bulb that is defective.

I just changed a rear signal bulb and it's blinking faster than the other one. It's not blinking super fast, which tipped me off that it needed to be changed. Should I just change the other one also?

I would suspect a faulty turn signal / hazard relay. The hazards and turn signals both run off of the same relay. It is located behind the left side of the dash, on front of the underdash fuse/relay box.

Hi appleskid,

Check the ground circuit for the rear RH taillight. It is bad and not providing sufficient ground for the brake circuit and it is using the turn signal circuit as ground.
