If the fan is not working, you need to check it and power supply to it. Try applying power directly to one terminal and grounding the other to test if it works.

Here is a guide to help us fix the problem

Please run down this guide and report back.

If the fan don't work, nothing is going to work. Test the fan first.

Hi if the air is not cold check the pressures low side should be between 30 and 40 high between 150 and 200. if the pressure is right and not cold then you have either a blend air door prob as in the heat is mixing with the a/c check and see if the line outside under the hood is cold when on if yes check the blend doors

I took my van in because the air was cooling, then blowing hot air then cooling again. They replaced under warranty the compressor. The receipt said it was shorting out. I picked up my van and it appeared to blow cold air but it was at 7:30pm. The next day during the day, it was cool air but we had it on full blast and still sweating. I returned it to the dealer and they said the machine that pushed the freon in malfunctioned and the purge the system and refilled with freon. It is still not cooling to my satisfation. I did a reading with a air conditioning meter. I placed the thermometer end into the air vent and the coldest it got after driving 10 miles was 58 degrees. I came home and drove my parents car, did the same thing and within 5 miles the temp was already at 46 degrees. What should the temp be for a properly working system? We are bringing it back today.

Does the a/c compressor turn on when you turn the a/c on?Are your electric cooling fans working under the hood?Have you ever cleaned the fins of your radiator and a/c condensor out?

Cooling fans are working. One of them wasnt working but found out it was just a connection issue. The compressor does not come on when I turn the a/c on. Everything is cleaned though.

With the compressor not coming on first thing you need to check is the a/c pressures.

I have a few problems all started at the same time. A/C does not blow cold air, when car is cold it makes a loud screeching sound when the defrost fan is turned up. Power steering is sometimes very hard (tough to turn steering wheel). Can any of this be related? Someone suggested the serpentine belt needed replacing? Also, I replaced my windshield recently and now the intermittent sensor doesn't work. I have the sensored wipers and have been through this before where the technician doesn't recalibrate the sensor. Is this why the intermittent setting isn't working now?

Are these readings coming from a a/c machine that recovers and charges the a/c?

You have several possible isssues going on. The hot A/C could be from an improper level of r-134a refrigerant. You need to have that checked by a repair shop and have the refrigerent pressure checked or just get it flushed and filled.
The loud screedhing could be the air door for the defrost not clsoing all they way and creating a small gap that squeals when air passes by. It might also be the blower motor going bad.
The power steering pump sounds like it is going bad. Check the fluid level and then grab the pulley and check for play. If there is play you need to replace the pump or if the fluid looks or smells burnt.
The intermitant snesor is generally set by a control board. You may have a problem with the control board or the multi-funtion switch for the wipers.

You didn't indicate one problem it might be happening if the AC is turning on and off and that was the original problem. Then it gets hot and cold, then all of a sudden the power steering doesn't work as good and here's a big screech it sounds like some bearing is seizing up intermittently and causing the accessory belt to start slipping and that would create the screaching sound. What do think?

So when you say the low side reads retard do you mean its reading as a vacuum instead of pressure? This is with the compressor off correct?

The retard is meaning too much pressure on the low side. And yes this is when the compressor is off.

When the compressor is off its going to read higher then it should when the a/c on it should 130psi like the high side.Your low side gauge must one of gauges that just reads blue yellow red.My gauge set reads actual pressure of both the high and low side.

It sounds like you have enough pressure to turn the compressor on.Have you checked to see if your getting power ground etc to the compressor when turn the a/c on?

My air conditioner stopped working and I noticed the the cooling fan (the one listed by the passnger side of the engine) does not work when you turn on the air. The A/C blows hot air. Also, I'm not sure if this is related but there is a humming sound when I drive. Could it be the compressor, or could this be two different things.

Lack of cooling fan can lead to a compressor failure. It needs to be checked with a set of pressure gauges by a professional so nothing gets overlooked.

if the relay does not work it will not turn on compressor so have it scanned for codes it may be some type of control problem.you can either switch relay with another to test or do this to test relay. also, if system was low on Freon it would not start either and I do not know if you have auto or manual A/C if it is auto A/C you have to have it scanned as there are too many sensors that can go bad causing your problem.
