My solution bypasses the ignition switch, park and neutral position switch to activate the starter.

Hey guys - I have always had issues with my Grand Prix starting (first got it with 14,000 miles on it). Sometimes it fires right away, others you have to give it gas to fire. Here recently we have had major issues with it starting immediately after we fill it up with gas. It eventually starts, but not until you pump the gas several times while waiting for it to fire. Any suggestions on what the cause is? Thanks - Reggie

Most likely a problem with EVAP system, like a purge solenoid or a vent tube blocked.

Are you getting a check engine light?

My sister just went through the exact same thing. We spent two hours killing ourselves trying to fix the problem when she realized that she was try to start the car with her valet key. This is a key given by pontiac that will up the car and trunk, but dose not have a chip in it to start the car. You may need a differeny key. Good luck

It does not happen all the time but occasionally on a cold start the vehicle starts then it fails to keep running or it stumbles and then runs. Does not do it after at all after this. Is this common to these cars? Any thing I can see or check?

No this is not normal. Could be many things, but start by checking the fuel pressure with mechanical gauge.
Fuel pressure should be above 40psi and hold pressure when pump is off. Test with ign. on, do not start, pump will run a few seconds and shut off, if pressure on gauge falls quickly, then a leaking injector, cold start valve or fuel pressure regulator.
