Hi,

Looking at the pic you attached, I wouldn't be too concerned. Also, I'm not seeing any abnormal wear on the outside of the belt where the tensioner would sit.

It certainly wouldn't hurt to try centering it. If you do, let me know how things turn out for you.

Take care,

Joe

Okay, I relieved the tension and centered the belt, but once I cranked it went back to the same position. So, I guess this particular pulley just rides to the side a bit?

I would think if it was going to work its way off the pulley, it would do it rather quickly, correct? How long would you say is a reasonable amount to time to keep an eye on it before saying that's just how it rides?

Hi,

I do agree that it would happen quickly. As far as checking, drive a hundred miles and check it. If there is no change, go to 500 miles and so on for checking.

Looking at the pic you sent, it doesn't look like it's too far off-center.

Let me know how things work out for you.

Okay, I drove it past few days and checked it again, somehow the belt has jumped 2 grooves on the PS pulley and is almost off the tensioner pulley. How could it jump the grooves unless it lost tension?

Okay, we found the problem, the new tensioner is not straight, see picture it doesn't line up with the other pulleys. I ordered from rockauto, they are going to send another one under warranty.

Hi,

I do see that. Before installing the new one check to see if it is different. They may have sent the wrong one originally.

Let me know.

Replacement tensioner is installed and it's good and straight. Belt is running right in the middle of both pulleys!

Hi,

Thanks for the update. I'm glad to know it's working correctly. Was it the same part number as was sent the first time? Were you able to notice any differences between the replacement and the original one they sent?

If you have a chance, let me know. I'm just curious.

Take care of yourself,

Joe

It was same part number and looked identical, except the one was slightly bent causing the belt to come off.

Hi,

That makes sense. Thanks for letting me know. It will likely help others in the future.

Regardless, take care, and feel free to come back any time in the future.
