You have spark and correct fuel pressure, injectors are pulsing-verify the valve and ignition timing this is where we stop-bcuz if its off it will never start even if you have spark and fuel.

I greatly appreciate the quick response! Ok, I will definitely look int what you listed so far. It's a friend's car that we are trying to help out. According to her, the car never stalled before. The maintenance light did come on prior to the car to the car breaking down. The car has been down for a week now. We have fixed the issues with the fuel pump so far.

Hello,

I though this might be useful to someone.

I have a 2000 Passat 2.8L V6. One night I came home and had to move my car to get ready for the morning. The next morning I went to start it and it would not start. The engine would crank fine but would not start. I kept cranking the engine and it just would not start.
Luckily I had another car to drive so I could have time to work on it. After tracking down ghosts I found out that the compression was low in the cylinders. I tested it dry and wet and the wet brought up the compression so I tried to start it and boom it started.

It seems like the engine floods or the gas is stripping the piston rings causing a lose of compression.

I had confirmed
- Good ignition
- Good fuel pressure
- Low cylinder compression

ADD OIL TO CYLINDERS TO GAIN COMPRESSION

Yes, the engine probably sucked excessive oil (that collected in the intercooler) and "ran away"... resulting in a hydrolock & bent valves.

You need to do a mechanical inspection of the camshaft / crankshaft timing. Most likely the cylinder head will need to come off to repair the engine damage.

I recently bought a used VW Passat 2002, when I go get gas and turn off the car the car starts on again with no problems but when I turn off the car to go home and LOCK the Driver's door with the key I can't get the car to start on again only after minutes pass by and it's a big hassle I've been getting to work late for 3 days in a row I don't know if it has something to do with the locking system but it's just getting me really frustrated. Please help me! I also have hot air blowing out my ac I don't know what's the problem with that either. I have the engine light on.

The engine light is on for a reason, you have to scan it. It's telling you something is wrong. Without knowing the fault codes, we can't properly assist you.

From the sounds of it, you may have a failing fuel pump or an intermittent crank sensor issue.

You most like have a bad crankshaft speed sensor, which is a very common failing part on your vehicle. It is located on the side of the engine facing the front of the vehicle (so the side closest to the radiator). It's on the engine block, about 3" above the oil pan and closer to the transmission side of the block. Its a circular black plastic sensor with a black protected wire coming from it.

First scan the vehicle, you'll most likely have a "engine speed sensor" fault. If you do, replace the sensor.
