Sputtering under acceleration with engine light?

Correction, I did not get the engine light to come on.
Hi,
I'm confused. Did it flash and indicate code pending? If that is the case but the CEL didn't stay on, if it happens again, the light will stay on.
If that is what is happening and it was a pending cylinder 2 code pending, it will likely happen again. So, is the coil in cylinder 2 the same one that caused the problem originally?
If it is, then yes, replace the coil. If it isn't, we need to suspect an issue with an injector or compression.
Let me know so I can better direct you.

Well, the best I can tell is that's what happened. The engine light flashed on two different occasions while accelerating. When I got home, I checked for any codes and saw cylinder 2 misfire pending.
And yes, the coil in cylinder 2 now is from cylinder 1. The same one causing the problem originally. I swapped them out again before I went for a drive.

Hi,
Okay, before we start tearing into wiring, injection, and the PCM, let's check engine compression.
Here is a link that explains how it's done:
https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-test-engine-compression
Let me know what you find.
If you would rather go to the injection first, let me know. However, I feel the easier test would be to confirm it isn't a compression issue.
Take care,
Joe

Okay, I'm confused now, lol. I did confirm that the coil pack in cylinder 2 was the same one that caused the problem originally. So wouldn't that coil pack need replacing?

Hi,
If that is the coil pack that caused the issues, yes, it should be replaced.
Let me know.

We have success!! Ran her through her paces a few times, around 5,000 revs and no problems. All green on the scan tool, code gone. I am so freaking happy lol!!
I couldn't have done it without you Joe. You guys are doing a really good thing and I really appreciate it. And gained a little knowledge and understanding of how things work.
Thank you!

Hi,
You are very welcome. I'm glad to know it's fixed. Was it the coil that was the cause? Did a new one take care of the issue?
Let me know.
