Replacing rear driveshaft ?

Do you have a split drive shaft with a center bearing bolted to the truck? Any problem in the shaft can be transmittied along the length of it...check all u joints and center bearings, one is no good.

Thanks for the help. It turned out the snap rings were missing. Not being familiar with the need for these- I would not have known they were needed. I also had the shaft balanced and now it runs great.

no my truck is a single cab so its a one piece driveshaft, and i replaced both u-joints while i was at it.

my next guess would it be my diff? maybe like you said..the driveshaft is transmitting the noise coming from my diff.. i did have an aftermarket LSD put in the tuck about 4 years ago and havent changed the fluid in it since...and on the cover there are slight signs of a fluid escaping but nothing that looks alarming.. but maybe that would be my next best place to look..

and if it were it be my diff is low on fluid how easy it is to replace the fulid myself. or would it just be in my best interest to take it to a shop.. and finnaly what would something like that cost?

Simple...remove the rear cover, drain, use RTV on cover and replace, remove the drain plug, 1/2 inch ratchet wrench, fill to bottom of hole, and youre done...

i have a noise and it sounds like it is coming from the back of the truck when you go down the road and let off the gas their it a clicking sould i replace the u joints the that did not help can you help me

Apply the parking brake. Disconnect the driveline from the rear differential yoke. Check the yoke for any play, especialy up and down or side to side. There should be a little play when you turn it but not much. If there is any play up and down or side to side, your pinion bearing is beginning to fail. Let me know what you find.....
