Engine not cranking over?
2006 DODGE STRATUS

What is it doing cranking over and will not start or just will not crank at all?
I can get the key to crank over. But it does not even try to start. Everything worked great previously. I am just baffled because I would think it is the ignition. But that does not explain why the radio does not work also.

Need to check for spark, fuel and compression. One of them is missing.
Did you try jumping it from another battery?

When I use the remote, the car starts for a few seconds and then stops. I bought a new battery and it still does not stay running. What can cause this?

Sounds like a problem with the remote starter unit. Is it factory or aftermarket?

My brother replaced my water pump. After finishing the car would not start cranked and has two codes to come up p 2074 and p0172. If you take the vacuum house off the car will run but skips.

Check the ground wires at the strut towers. If they are okay, you need to re check the timing marks on the belt. If they are off, it is an interference motor and may have bent a valve.
Start with a compression test to confirm.
