I have the same problem. Did you get yours resolved?

depending on what type of plug you put on your truck whether it was factory or the four way there should be one wire that goes to ground on the frame of truck and one wire that goes on ground of trailer. also the lights should be grounded to the trailer as well with no plastic in between the bracket and trailer.

I cannot get power to the constant hot wire to my 7 way in the rear plug. Is the stud #1 supposed to have the 40 amp fuse. I have all of the turn and stop lights working at the plug and all of the other fuses seem to be good. I have a separate trailer brake control unit wired and plugged in under the dash and have used trailer with electric brake with no problems. I just wonder why i don't have the constant power to the rear plug.

yes stud one is the hot wire for the trailer connector it should have a 40 amp fuse and go to position E in the connector at back

I have an appropriate seven blade trailer plug . all functions work except the auxiliary power feed. but I cannot find where the auxiliary power feed wire gets its power from.

it gets it from stud #2 on fuse block under hood see picture. it is a red wire on plug in.

i have lost the power to my trailer plug. the fuses inside the driver door check out with a light tester. are there relays in between the fuses and the trailer plug?

Check the fuse box in the engine compartment. It is located on the drivers side. The trailer fuse is located in there. Check out the fuses and let us know what you find.

This truck does not have a plug in module for hooking up trailer. A plug must be hard wired to wires coiled on top of spare tire. I need a wiring diagram for attaching a trailer plug.

some of those trucks there is a t fitting that you can by at your local parts store that plugs right into the factory harness. if not check the left frame rail all your wiring might be there. but i would suggest the t fitting first. then you dont have to cut anything

We added a second seven prong plug in the box made sure all wires went to the right prong had power at the power prong plugged the camper in and we had power to the brake prong in plug it and no power to that prong then blew the fuse and can not locate the fuse block that the trailer fuse is in where is it located so we can change the fuse

it shold be underhood in the underhood fuse box

my 2000 Chevy Silverado has no trailer wiring connector on i bought a seven way connector like i was told to do.my chevy has 6 wires blue black white yellow green and a kinda light blue wire and i don't know what they should connect to on the connector

This wiring is at the rear of the vehicle? I have some tables of circuit description, It would be advised to verify with a test lamp before assuming the circuits are what is listed.

Trailer Wiring
Important: The trailer harness and fuses must be connected to the engine wiring harness junction block. The trailer harness circuits are identified in the following table. Please take note of the maximum current ratings of the circuits.

Stop lamps and turn signal lamps are similar to the description in Exterior Lights Circuit Description, with the exception of the following conditions:

• From the stoplamp switch, voltage is supplied to the turn/hazard switch on CKT 17 (WHT).

• From the turn/hazard switch, voltage is supplied to the TRL L Turn or the TRL R Turn fuse on CKT 18 (YEL) or CKT 19 (DK GRN).

• From the fuse, voltage is supplied to the trailer connector

02 Suburban trail light work on right

2010 silverado with factory heavy duty tow package. Can't get trailer lights to work except for rt. signal. Have tried other hookups with same result

Use a test light or meter to verify the trailer plug is receiving power. Use the meter to verify continuity between the plug on the trailer and the lights. Verify the bulbs are good.

I am trying to rewire the trailer light hook-up on my truck. Does the end going into the body of the truck just plug in somewhere, and if so where does it plug in? Is there any place I can go to get an exploded view of where it would plug in. Many thanks again for your help.

you should have afemale plug that the wires coming from under the truck attach to green right turn yellow left turn brown running lights if you have a brake controller it should be a blue wire there is also a light green which is a charging wire for trailer

I have a 97 Chevrolet z71, unable to locate the stop switch wire to install trailer brakes. I was instructed to look for a grouping of 5-7 white wires, however, looking under the dash I have found a grouping of wires but they are all different colors and a lot more than 5-7 in the group. Any ideas on the installation???

The brake light switch is at the top of the brake pedal.

Hey all, I know this thread is old but I am having the same problem multiple of you have mentioned here. When I turn on the right turn signal, both turn signals on the trailer blink. When I step on the brakes only the right brake works. The left blinker works with no issues. Running lights all good. Anyone ever fix this problem? I replaced the female connector on the truck and it still does the same thing. I have tried multiple trailers and it does the same.

I should add this is on a 2005 Tahoe

When the trailer is not connected do the lights work correctly? If not I would replace the flasher module they have problem here is the location. Check out the diagrams (Below). Please let us know what you find. We are interested to see what it is.

The lights on the truck always work normally with or without the trailer plugged in. The trailer works normal on all other vehicles but mine. When I took part the 7 prong female plug on the truck side, it is sending a signal for the left and right blinker (or hazard lights?) when I turn on the right blinker. The left blinker operates normally on the trailer when I signal left on the truck.

It sounds like the trailer wiring or the truck plug wiring is the issue. Here is the trailer wiring so you can check the power output:
