The security light is the issue. It sounds like the BCM is going out. But first I would remove the BCM and check the connectors for corrosion which will cause the issue here is the location below. They call it an general control module BTW.

Check out the diagrams (below). Please let us know what you find.

Cheers, Ken

Dear,

Do you mean to check all these modules one by one? The car starting when it is cold and once parked will not start until one or two hours normally. Could you please explain what to check exactly instead of going through all these modules? Thanks

Please check the number 20 module only which controls the security system. Look at the connectors you will not be able to test the module we are just looking for obvious water damage.

The passenger compartment fuse box is located on the right-hand side trim panel in the footwell.
I have checked this, but all okay.

Lets try something with the car locked and security armed try pulling and pushing on the drivers door. My thinking is the micro switch in the latch could be going out causing the security system to get confused which will make the car not start. You will know if the status changes. (Alarms goes off) Please do all doors just incase.

Yes Ken, I have a problem with the door locks. It will not lock from driver door, it locks from left front passenger door normally only if I get inside the car. Also, locks open by remote and close again immediately after clicking the remote to open, have to be quick to pull and open the door.
The passenger door will not open by remote.

Yes! We are getting closer. There is a driver door lock module that sound like it is going out. Here is a wiring diagram so you can see how the system works and the location of the door module try to find a used one first.

Check out the diagrams (below). Please let us know what happens.

Dear Ken,

I have changed the door control module but it is the same, mean there is no fault with it. I guess the left rear door latch is bad. I will change it also with second hand working one and see if it works. I will let you know.

Dear Ken,

Good day,

I disconnect the battery and changed the two front locks and latches, it took almost one hour
changing it, again reconnect the battery and the complete locks on four doors are working perfect but the security light still blinking. Again I disconnect the battery and wait for twenty minutes and reconnect it, the security light went off and the car started normally.

I tried several times switching off the car and lock it, open it with the remote it is working perfect, running the engine, it runs normal, the security light on once and when engine starts the security light went off as it should be.

With your help (Ken) I did repaired my catalytic converter and I am so happy now. I would like to thank you very much my friend.

By the way, I will still test my car for few days and see if everything is fine and it will run smoothly and will be in contact with you all the way.

Thanks once again.

Car will not start for no apparent reason. Battery and all systems are working fine. Engine turns very good but will not start. After 20 or 30 minutes it will usually start right up as if nothing was wrong and run fine for several days and than out of the blue, it decides not to start.. I think the fuel is being shut off as part of the anti-theft system???

The car will often not start for no apparent reason. If left 20 to 30 minutes it will usually start right up, but not always. Battery and all electrical systems are working fine. It is as if the fuel is being cut off (anti-theft devise?)

try a security system reset however we have no instructions for that so if you don't have manual you will have to call dealer or 800 number for Jaguar

Check fuses 1 (in main fuse panel next to drivers foot well) and 21(in under hood power center) Also check to see if the starter relay (in the under hood center near fuse 21) is clicking when the key is turned. If you hear/feel it click, you have an issue with the starter motor or the wiring to it. If it's not clicking, try swapping the relay for another one and see if it works.

Electrical problem
2001 Jaguar S-Type 6 cyl Automatic 118000 miles

2 weeks ago, I got out the when I removed the key from the igntion I notice the car was stil running! A mechanic that changed the ignition swithch in Nov told me he witnessed this with my car, this was the first for me! He advised me to pull fuse 18 under the hood if this ever happens, so I did. I started the car drove home and it wouldn't start. Another mechanic told me it was the electircal portion of the the ignition switch (the other portion I previously replaced was cylinder shaped). I purchased the part and he called me and told me the car starts now, but won't shut off unless the fuse 18 is pulled, his I drove it to a shop that usually does the maintainence on the car, it was after hours, they told me 2 days later that the car never started for them and they believe it is a problem with the security system / computer and it would need to go to the dealer. I planned to trade the car in this weekend. In the past year I've changed 2 ignition coils, O2 sensors, igntion switch ball joints, rotors, brakes and tires, andwindow regulators the car is very well maintained! Please advise me of some things I should check before dropping big money into repairing this pretty headache of a car. Thanks.

Well I can tell you the headaches wont stop.........Jag's are kinda like that.Your best bet would be to have the dealer put it on their scanner (Jag software) to see what is going on with the security system. It does sound odd to me that the security would keep the car running though, I can see it preventing start-up more than not letting it shut down.

If the car is left for more than 10 minutes, it has a tough time starting. Usually it takes 2 cranks to get the car started. I would smell gas or exhaust during the starting period, but then it runs perfect. Note if I turn off the car then trying to start it within the 10 minutes everything starts properly. Also if I disconnect the negative terminal for 20 seconds to reset computer, the starting problems are solved. Then after a couple of days somehow the starting problems comes again. I've already replaced the ECT sensor with no change. Whatever the problem is, it is time sensitive Please advise

Electrical problem
2001 Jaguar S-Type V8 80000 miles

The car has been sitting inside the garage through the winter, It had a weak battery before the winter and had no power when I went to start it. I confirmed the battery was dead and replaced it. I went to start it up and it started right up....I moved it out of the garage to clean out the back seat and after went to start it but it didn't fire up!
It cranked very strong and I have full electrical power. I checked the fuel rail and I didn't get any spray when I pushed in the check valve with my key. Can there be any other possibility besides a fuel pump? The car had a full tank of gas before the winter and still does. I never had a problem before except that if the car sat a few days it cranked slow sometimes I needed to boost it (that's why I changed the battery). But it never ran funny after it started.

Do below to determine if its actually a fuel or spark problem

Get a helper disconnect a sparkplug wire or 2 and ground it to the engine atleast 3/16 away from ground-have helper crank engine over-do you have a snapping blue spark? If so-you have a fuel related problem, check the fuel pressure to rule out the fuel filter/fuel pump/pressure regulator and listen to the injector/s are they pulsing or hook up a noid light. No snapping blue spark continue to troubleshoot the ignition system-power input to the coil/coil packs, coil's resistances, distributor pick-up coil, ignition control module, cam and crank sensors and computer Note: If it doesn't apply disregard it

Thank you! I will try it tonight and let you know what I find out.

Could this have anything to do with the Anti-theft system, I only have the valet key...I had to change the battery by folding down the back seat (I attached an access cable when I lost the main key for just this purpose!)

I tried it the next day and it started right up before I could check anything. I tried to restart it several times and I had no problems. Strange. There is no engine light or anything, could it have had anything to do with the fact that I didn't start it for 3 months or so? Any ideas in case it still could be a problem that might come back?

Try using the key fob and hitting unlock buttom to disarm system. Try any additional keys you have to see if it starts with them. Is the PATS LED on the center of the dash flashing??

[quote:0a36d6d1a9="j_khlaif"]You mean after the battery was replaced, and it started and it still needed to relearn? Interesting.[/quote:0a36d6d1a9] sounds more like the plugs fouled with petrol as it never run for long enough to warm up, leaving it overnight allowed the petrol to evaporate and so it started up again.

I have a 2001 Jaguar S-Type with 55000 actual miles.
Car runs great, but problem is in the start-up. After sitting for 20-30 minutes or more, starter must be engaged for 5-6 seconds before engine will fire. This does not vary. Have had car to a Jaguar repair service center after used car dealer where purchased could not find the problem. Fuel pumps were replaced as well as the fuel filter EGR Valve, some clogged tubing, etc. Fuel tank was cleaned as well. Service center stated the fuel in tank was comtaminated. Fresh premium fuel was added. So far, the original problem still there. Any Ideas??????
