The battery is drained. Try a jump start and get the alternator and battery checked.

If you have DVOM, check the battery voltage. If the battery is bad, charging is not going to work.

Ok..thanks..even if the inside lights come on could the battery still be dead? I'm about to check for the voltage..the battery is reading 12.60..That should be ample enough voltage to start up I believe

Not dead but drained and you have enough current to work the ligths etc but not enough to crank the starter, which requires a high rate of discharge.

12.60 is enough to start but what does it show when you turn the key?

Battery is not the problem. Give the starter motor some light knocking with a mallet or someting to make it judder and retest.

If you follow the battery positive cable, you would come to the starter at the end of it.

Blown head? What makes him think that?
Did he check the car?
Did you have overheating issues?
Do you have coolant in system?
Did he check the starter?

It did over heat..but I resolved that problem my changing the fan blade.the drive belt, the radiator& the part that connects to the fan..the car ran fine after that..one fuse blew out..I had that changed Saturday b/c that caused it not to turn over..it would crank but not get fire.after the fuse was changed it ran fine..then the problem came right after that..no he did not check the starter..I told him the problem I was having& he told me about taking out the spark plugs..I'm @ a lost for words right now

I believe you have a leak in the air hose from air cleaner to throttle body, unless you have a cold air intake system. If the syatem is original, the vacuum leak between the MAF ( air cleaner ) and throttle body can cause difficult or non starting.

The link explains how to test for vacuum leaks.

The air hose is the one between the air cleaner and throttle body. Check for cracks on the hose or its connection.

Vaccum leakages can cause high idling and misfirings and you should try to get this rectified first. Forget about what people telling what it could be and to check this and that. You need to follow proper procedures for diagnosing problems and not guessing on prossibilities. I only work on information you provide so if I get the wrong data, you are going to get the wrong answer.

Get a can of carb cleaner and after starting engine, spray a little the carb cleaner around suspected vacuum leakages and if the engine idling changes, that is the area you should be looking for leaks.

Do not over spray and concentrate on one small area at a time, with short spurts.

Injectors are at intake manifolds, attacheed to the fuel rails and not directly visible.

Ok..I appreciate that response..I'm tired of guessing& being mislead!! This is my new issue!! I changed my last spark plug!! Now the car cranks w/ease but will not stay on!! It's like one thing after another!! Back to back!! If I crank& keep my foot on the gas..everything is fine..car is idling right...all the good stuff..when I take my foot off it shuts down!! That started after changing spark plug!

Recheck your work. Something could have not been plugged in correctly or loose.
Get a scan done to check for trouble codes. Most parts stores provides free scanning servies. DO NOT change anything first, just let us know the trouble code is fany found.

I don't go around guessing, we need to diagnose the problem and remember, you are our eyes so what you give us is what we are working on.

We are here to back you up so if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.

I have this to suggest, forget everything that had occurred and we start from new. Sometimes problems are resolved and a new one comes up due to something else and we tend to overlook those that we have worked through.

We restart from zero and the basics.

1. List out the symptoms presently showing.
2. Check for trouble codes.

I did get a diagnostic test done a few weeks ago from auto zone.. P0300 is one code..& I needed to change one last spark plug& I changed that yesterday& it also reads the other probable cause could be a vacuum leak!! I just don't know how to determine the vacuum leaks..also my oxygen sensors need to be changed! It also says that system is running rich or lean..! I'm lost& frustration is setting in..I'm trying to do whatever I can myself b/c everyone is very pricey when it comes to this vehicle! That's why I appreciate all that you have helped me with

You don't seem to be following what I have suggested. This started from the beginning and I had already told you what to do and have you done those?
Check starter, battery and terminal connections.

This means the starter is not in good condition and might need repair/replacement.

As to the running issues, get the codes read again and see if there are none, you need to check the idle control system which. Have you found the air leak (vacuum noise)?

Thanks..could you let me know how to go about checking the idle control system please..I don't know where to begin when that is concerned..when I changed my last spark plug which is the 2nd one on the driver side I removed the big hose (not sure of the proper name) Its connected to my throttle body..I noticed my throttle body was dirty..I also changed a small hose that was dry rotted& looked original thought maybe that would've helped..it didn't..I have not located the air leak yet..I am so confused right now b/c it sounds Like it wants to run good when ever it does start up..how could I go about repairing the starter If possible

You need to get the engine running first before you are able to get it to run properly. If the starter cranks intermittently, it usually means the carbon brushes are running low and the knock of the starter can only work for a short period of time before it completely fails. Unless you have the knowhow, tools and parts to perform repairs the only thing you can do is replace it.

The big hose is the air hose I refered to. If any part of it is leaking, you would have running issues.

You mentioned the throttle body being dirty, you would need to clean it up as a dirty throttle body would affect the idling.
