How do you line up a timing belt?

Hi there, see pics for timing marks, do not turn engine or cam with belt off as this is an interference engine. mark (mhpautos)

thank you for the help, i understand the bottom pic but i dont understand the top pic. The holes suppose to match up with what?

There is a line pressed into the tin backing plate, this should align with the hole.

i lined up the timing belt for the car, but the car just doesnt seem to run. is there another way to place the timing belt? Or at least start the car?

also the cam shaft in the upper level has to match with what line?
