Alright from what i see you dont have a 1999 saturn SL2 because you have two lines going to the fuel rail and a fuel pressure regulator. The 1999 saturn SL2 has only one fuel line going to the fuel rail and the fuel pressure regulator is in the fuel filter. So the fuel pressure regulator is what is missing?I see it on the rail in the first pic but in the second pic its not there.

Where do I get a fuel return line and where does it plug into after I plug it into the fuel rail? The vin number comes back as a 1999 s-series. What else could my car be then? I need to be specific with the gm parts guy. My fuel filter is part of my fuel pressure regulator. It's under the car close to the gas tank. Where that filter thing is on the top of the rail is supposed to be where the electric connector goes. The little vale that comes off the cover of that filter goes into the throttle body. See why I'm so confused.

So do you really have a 1999 saturn SL2 if so someone put a earlier fuel rail on the intake with a return which would be the incorrect one.Since the 1999 SL2 only has one fuel line.

If your fuel filter is by the gas tank you have a earlier fuel rail on the intake.Or what could have happened is someone put a complete earlier engine in the car.Over by the coil pack for your ignition where the transmission meets the engine you will find a vin number on the engine block.Look at the last eight of that vin number.Does that last eight of the vin match the vin number of your car?

Yes. They match. From what I have found, this isn't the right fuel rail for this year model. Where would the fuel return line be?

Is it just a bracket? Or is it a fuel line?

The bracket helps support the weight of the manifold also there should be one on the other side of the manifold underneath the manifold.

Install the missing intake brace by the throttle body and see if the one on the passenger side under the intake manifold is missing. If it is then you will have to replace that one also.

I hate to break the news to you but the one on the drivers side is missing the one the fuel line bolts too.I just checked one of the pics you posted and i can see the threads where one of the bolts holding the bracket in goes. Not sure if the passenger side one under the intake manifold is missing becasue i cant see that part in any of the pics.I will post a pic of my bracket on my 1999 saturn sl2 to show you the bracket your missing.

I had this SAMEEE problem, I caught it at Idle one day. I had to cut off the hose to the regulator, and remove the hard part. That little plastic clamp on the end of the inlet was not creating a seal ( i believe). I got some hose, and 2 clamps and ran it from both ends. It's rand for about a month in the texas heat now and just started leaking again; after tightening the clamps it seems to have fixed the problem but I still see some shitty gas mileage. I no longer smell gas, so believe the problem may be more complex. I'll post my results here
