transfer case not working
1998 CHEVROLET TRUCK

I check the thing you sent but the transfer case was low in oil so i put about 2 quart in so when i put into 4th low and start the engine and come of the clutch the front wheels will not turn but i can keep on moving the four wheel drive shift lever back and forward it make a noise and hard to shift and when it do catch the front wheels turn for about 2 second and stop. but the lever is hard to shift what could be that cause? the back wheel don't turn when put into 4th Hi because a gear in the rear end is worn out.
you just answered your question...... being 2 quarts low of oil has damaged check this
makes sure you have are manifold vaccuum in one of the are ports!! or it's this
Transfer case not completely in gear. Binding shift linkage. Engine or transmission mounts loose. Range fork damaged. Fork pads are worn. Shift fork binding on shift rail. Low range gear worn or damaged.
check tcase mounting bolts and eng/trans mounts. finally put truck in neutral then shift to 4 low and then stop shift into 4 high if still popping ou then it's internal damage to tcase.

have a 2002 chevy tracker, 2.5l auto with 73,000 miles
the 4 wheel drive don't work.
I put it in 4 wheel drive and the light lights up on the dash, the drive shaft turns, the actuator on the radiator pumps air to the unit but the axles don't engage. What is inside the unit that makes the axles engage? What can I do to fix it?
Thanks
Don

I have a 93 Chevy K1500. The 4 wheel drive recently stopped working. The lights come on when I put the manual shift into 4 hi. I replaced the thermal actuator with the electrical one and wired it in. When I put it into 4 wheel I can hear the actuator sound like it is engaging. I don't think, therefore, that the actuator is the problem. Any ideas? If not can you give me a basic rundown of how the four wheel drive engages? Any help is appreciated.
Thanks and have a great day.

The four wheel drive does not work in my 1993 chevy truck. My husband put a actuator in it and the fluid is good but still does not work.My question to you is what else could it be?

If he replaced the actuator on the transfer case, tell him to make sure it is getting power and operating properly. If it is, he needs to check the actuator on the front axle. Even if the transfer case engages, if the axle doesn't, it won't work.

Drive Train Axles Bearings problem
1992 Chevy Truck V8 Four Wheel Drive Automatic 100000 miles
My 4wd does not engage. The shifter is working properly and the front driveshaft turns when moving forward if the transfer case is in 4w hi or low however the acuator does not engage the front axles. I checked for power at the actuator wiring harness and there is no power on either terminal in either 4w hi or 4w low. There is also no power in 2w hi. I did not notice a fuse in the fuse panel for the 4wd circuit so I am stumped as to how to figure out this issue. What should I check next?

The fuse is good but I did not think to check and see if power is getting to the fuse. I will try that first. Any other suggestions providing power is getting to the fuse? Are there any switches in the system that would prevent power flow to the actuator? Thanks to all who can help with this matter.

check t see if the actuator is getting power then trace it back from there. Also check to make sure you have good connections...
