Stalls while driving?

If the smoke is grey (bluish) it is oil being burnt in the cylinders and that could mean bad valve seals.

If the smoke is white, that would be water and it could be condensation or a bad head gasket.

Do you have coolant losses issues?
Have you checked your spark plugs and related components?

My truck will idle for around twenty minutes. and then it will die. Also if I try to give it gas while it's running it will die. I can't figure it out. What do you think?

Check and test the throttle position sensor and map sensor-to include a fuel pressure check.

Ok How do you test the throttle position sensor and the air mass sensor. I just don't know the specific resistance readings I should be getting on my meter. the book I have does not list the throttle position sensor anywhere in it.

My mazda one day started to sputter and then stall. I changed the fuel filter and then it ran fine for a month or so. The problem started again. I replaced the fuel filter again but the problem persists. The engind will start and run for about 30 seconds then stall. Any idea as to what it could be?

i have the same vehicle same problem . fuel supply is ok. in the last week the engine has shut down then refired 3 times at hiway speeds. today ,start and stop run time 3 seconds

dougb2200, how do you know fuel supply is Ok? Did you disconnect the fuel line and crank the engine over? Or did you put a fuel pressure gauge on it?

Also check the coil. It could be failing when getting hot.

fuel pressure is37 lbs. i am chasing maf sensor, when i disconnect sensor, engine will start and run. plug it back in engine dies thanks rivermikerat for your input doug

I drive a 1991 B2200 Mazda. Five speed, 114,091 miles. For the past 4 months I have felt what I thought was me unconciously easing off the gas and the truck very slightly chugging because of it. Two mornings ago, I went to step on the gas and it wanted to die, I swore at it,lol, being truthful and stepped on the gas even more and it was fine after that.
What is causing this problem?
Bad gas? I have not added any water in gas treatment.

There can be a few reasons that may cause your problem, firstly any diagnosis should start with a scan for any unresolved fault codes, a general tune including the fuel filter and if the filter shows any signs of water or contamination this should be looked into, my first thoughts are a defective TPI (throttle position sensor) a scan will extract a code for this if it is faulty.

Sounds like the sensor is very bad.

i changed amf sensor no difference, found a mechanic turns out b2200 was his intro to auto repairs so he was interested.after an hour of testing. he felt confused that he could not get check engine light code. the ecm,located passenger kick panel,looked rusted, he had used one,plugged it in,fixed it.runs good now

My truck has a starting problem, My truck cranks, has a good battery and starter, I have gas at the carb, spark in my wires, at time it starts, stays on for about 10-15 seconds and turns off by itself.

Check the fuel pressure if its within specs and comeback with the pressure readings this is where we start-also do you have a check engine light coming on?

Start it up and closely observe the choke plate opening at 3 mins should be fully open if not adjust it to include the fast idle cam-

Is it a mechanical or electric fuel pump?

The truck will start and idle then when you tap gas pedal to bring idle to normal truck will stall out. It happens every time you take foot off of gas pedal it stalls. I changed the plugs, rotor, fuel filter, wires and air filter. It still does the same thing. I even put 1 can of dry gas in to it incase of water. I have not gone far with the dry gas in it yet. Any idea's as to where to go next.

Welcome to the forum, thanks for the donation. I,m not sure if you have a carb or fuel injected? with idle issues, I clean the carb or throttle body, if fuel injected check the idle air system, any codes?

It has a carb.I will clean it real good and see if that helps/ I will let you know.

Why would my truck die when i let out the clutch? othewr than that it runs fine, tho it smokes a lot at start up. Also, the truck sat for five years being started only every six months.

my only sudjestion as a b2200 owner is check your intake, air filter, but i do now why its smoking mine does the same its the seal on the valve stems oil is dripping down the valves and getting underneath the valves and on top of you piston hope this has helped good luck 2 you

My Mazda truck started okay this morning, drove fine then I put in neutral and it sputtered and shut off. Now it’s hard to start, runs for a minute, sputters and shuts off.

Do you have a carburetor or fuel injection engine? This is going to make a difference in this case because I have a feeling it is fuel related.

If it is hard to start try using a bit of starter fluid in the intake and see if it starts easier and if you can keep it running with extra bursts of fluid. If so that is an indication of a fuel issue.

yeah sometimes i have to press the gas pedal so it wont stall out

There should be an idle solinoid on the carby, it is round and about 1"or so long with one wire going to it, this should click when the power is on, check this.

I seem to have the same problem as need help bad. My truck runs well,but when you let off the gas it stalls. The carb has been rebuilt and the vac leaks as far as I know have been taken care of. I checked the idle solinoid as You told him and mine does not click when the power is on.When I jump the solinoid from the battry it clicks. when i hold the jumper in place it idles much faster. With the power on my meter reads 0.08 volts at the solinoid. Please help

It sounds like the wiring to the solenoid is broken internally. Follow the wire from end to end and check for continuity. I feel you will need to replace the wire.

I have a friend who has a mazda b2200 and the other day it just stoped running we started it and it ran for like 15secs and shut off. Its like what ever we prime into the float once its gone it shuts off could it be the fuel pump a fuse......
