Won’t start only with starting fluid. replaced fuel pump runs for a few seconds on starting fluid. what should I check for ? This is my sons car , this all started on day a about four months ago he drove to the store about five miles away came out it would not start. had it towed home had to wait for the snow to melt so we could work on it . Checked the fuses they seem fine not sure about relay don’t have a way to check it out. Used my OBD tester it said nothing was stored in the system. But he had the battery disconnected from sometime not sure what to check now.

Good afternoon,

Did you verify power to the fuel pump before replacing it?

I attached a wiring diagram for you to view. You will need a voltmeter to do some tests for voltage.

Check the fuse listed for power on both sides with a test light or voltmeter.

After we installed the new fuel pump, it built up pressure. So it is getting power. My son has a 2012 Nissan Frontier LE. The truck will start and run for abt 2-3 seconds on its own then kill. However, it will run continuously with starter fluid. We have checked all the fuses and battery and all are good. What else could this be. Thanks!!!

You need to test the actual pressure and see if it is dropping off before it stalls out.

Otherwise, it could be a security issue.
