Will not start

Hello,

Okay, so you have unwanted resistance from the starter to the negative battery terminal. I would double check the ground strap going from the vehicle's engine block to the frame of the car and ensure that it is not damaged, corroded, and is making good metal to metal contact and is tight. Also do the same with the ground wires going to the battery negative terminal, and make sure that the negative battery clamp is clean and tight as well. Please get back to us with what you are able to find out, and we can go from there.

Thank you. i will do that tomorrow.

So i left the battery off for 2 days i got busy and. Wasn't able to work on it . i have not replaced anything. Because i'm wanting to get to the bottom of it. So what i did is went through every cylinder and pulled a plug. I then while i have it apart cleaned the carburetor because it was black black. I put everything back together and went to fire it up first turn it fired right up. Turned it off the tried turning back on but this time it did the same and clicked. But only clicked twice then fired did this over and over and the more times i did it the more cranks it took to fire it over. So where should i got from there?

Okay, so it sounds like this could be a problem with your vehicle's starter relay, which is located in the Totally Integrated Power Module and is not serviceable. In the diagrams down below I have included a wiring diagram of your vehicle's starting circuit, as well as location and component i.d. with call outs, and the instructions from the vehicle manufacturer for the removal and installation of the Totally Integrated Power Module. Please go through these guides and get back to us with what you are able to find out.

I don't believe its the relay because after removing spark plugs and it started it right up then after a few times it started clicking again.

Okay, can you remove the Coil On Plugs[COP] and inspect the inside of the boot for a white chalking streak or line. If one is present this is a carbon tract from where the spark is arcing across and not making it to the spark plug. Every time this happens it will make a clicking noise. Please get back to us with what you find out.

I am concerned that we are trusting that the new starter is a good unit, it is not unheard of for a new part to be faulty. I would confirm that you have a good starter before chasing other issues especially with the ground cable getting hot as this usually indicates either a bad starter, bad connection or a overly high load on the starter.
