Will not start

I put a timing chain in this car, someone else had already tried to put the chain on and time it, it did not work. so they brought it to me I took the chain off and timed it myself because it was wrong. I am pretty sure it timed right but I have no fire and no codes. It is getting gas. is there a ignition module or a coil somewhere that is keeping it from firing?

Hello,

We should check compression to see if there is enough to run this will confirm the timing chain being on as well.

There is a crankshaft angle sensor that needs to work as well. (below) This is what signals the computer to work the ignition and fuel injection.

I found the engine wiring diagrams for you well. Use the guide below to test for power at the fuses.

it turns over fine and has good spark but the fuel pump doesn't work so I replaced the pump, strainer, and filter to no avail, no sound from the gas tank at all, there is not a fuse so there must be a relay or two or am I just way off base? any help would be appreciated and if more info is needed please ask.

(Grand Vitara) it is not a power issue. I still have power battery's good, but car cranks over but will not start. sounds like it wants to start sometimes but sounds almost like it does not have enough gas to start. but it has plenty gas all fluids look good. i tried a jump start. i tried giving it a little gas (only tried once not too much).

It sounds like you have either weak fuel pump or a crankshaft angle sensor that is out.

I posted how to remove one of your coil's leave it plugged in put a plug on the end of the boot of it. Ground the plug and crank it over and look for a blue spark. Let's start there then we will check other thing's.

Ignition coil assembly (igniter and ignition coil:

Removal.

1. For H25 engine, remove ignition coil cover.
2. Disconnect ignition coil coupler.

3. Remove ignition coil bolt (1), and then pull out ignition coil assembly (2).

Installation.
Install in reverse order of removal.

so you want me to remove one of the plugs and put a spark plug on the end of it and put it against a ground?

Yes, unless you have a spare plug somewhere? It does not start so cranking it a few time's without the plug will be okay. Just stand to the side of the engine so you do not get hit by the compression blast.

Depending on how bad it overheated it could have collapsed the piston rings causing low compression.
