Good morning my name is Roy and I will assist.

What is the code number that has set???

oil at those locations is not good. remove the connectors and clean the connections with something like break kleen. Inspect the terminals for any damaged or loose pins. Use electrolytic grease in the connector when putting it back together to ensure good connections.

Also, do you know if you have spark and fuel pressure?. You need spark, fuel, and compression to make the engine run.

That is the last thing that could be the failure.

When you crank the engine from inside the truck, does the tach move up a little showing low rpm???

Ok, if you have no tach signal, chances are you may have a failed crank sensor. that is what sends the signal to the PCM. once the PCM sees this signal, it will turn on spark and the fuel pump.

Do you have a scan tool to read live data???

Ok. did it overheat???

Did they do any checks at all?? Fuel pressure, compression and check for spark?? Below is a description for the code but does not look like it is the reason for no start.

DTC P1258

Circuit Description
The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) uses the ECT sensor to monitor the engine for an over temperature condition. This condition occurs when the coolant temperature is above 132° C (270° F). When an over temperature condition is present, DTC P1258 will set. The PCM will disable two groups of four cylinders by turning OFF the fuel injectors. By switching between the 2 groups of cylinders, the PCM is able to reduce the temperature of the coolant.

DTC Descriptor
This diagnostic procedure supports the following DTC:
DTC P1258 Engine Coolant Overtemperature - Protection Mode Active

Conditions for Running the DTC
^ DTCs P0117, P0118, P1114, and P1115 are not active.
^ The engine is running.

Conditions for Setting the DTC
The engine coolant temperature is above 132° C (270° F) for 10 seconds or more.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets
^ The PCM will illuminate the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) during the first trip in which the diagnostic test has been run and failed.
^ The PCM will signal the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) to turn ON the Service Engine Soon indicator.
^ The PCM will alternately disable two groups of four cylinders by turning OFF the fuel injectors.
^ The PCM will store conditions which were present when the DTC set as Freeze Frame and File Records data.

Conditions for Clearing the MIL/DTC
^ The PCM will turn the MIL OFF after 3 consecutive trips that the diagnostic has been run and passed.
^ The history DTC will clear after 40 consecutive warm-up cycles have occurred without a malfunction.
^ The DTC can be cleared by using the scan tool Clear DTC Information function.

A little more info the tach does not move. Also in my house fire i lost keys turns out someone had changed ignition tumbler so mech put a different steering colum in and had to reprogram it so truck would start is it possible that it has lost memory of that and needs to be reprogrammed

Yes, if he removed the battery cable. If that was the case he just needs to do a re learn procedure
