Will not move

Hi,

If there is a problem within the transfer case, chances are it would be making a banging or grinding sound. Tell me, when you put the vehicle in park, can you still move it? In other words, the park position doesn't prevent the vehicle for moving.

Also, does the vehicle have automatic 4wd or do you have to engage it?

I have to engage the 4 wheel because it's like a stick shift in the middle it Does not make any sounds when driving. I came home park my car then when I get back in it would not move.

If you have to engage the 4wd to prevent it from moving, it sounds like the transfer case is in neutral.

If the transfer case is in neutral, it will be like placing a manual transmission in neutral. The car won't move and park will not hold the vehicle.

I attached a picture of the actuator to help locate it. I suspect that it isn't engaging properly and may be going into the neutral position. i need to just confirm if this is a push button system for 4wd or is it full time awd.

Push button.

I suspect, based on your description, that the actuator is not fully engaging and is placing the transfer case in neutral. At this point, the actuator should be removed and inspected. If you have 4wd when selected, I doubt anything is wrong with the actual transfer case.

It will be on the driver's side mounted to the transfer case. I have a long diagnostic flow chart for checking, but it is quite involved. However, if you want it, I would be happy to send it to you. Just let me know.

As far as a pic, this is the best I could find. More than anything, it shows location. Let me know if it helps.

Question, I took my drive shaft off what do I have to do so my truck runs off the back wills what else to take off?

If you have the front drive shaft off, it should move with it in 4wd. However, I honestly don't think that's a good idea. Are you sure there is nothing disconnected at the transfer case or loose?

Not sure how to check it out.

There should be an electrical connector at the actuator motor as seen in the above pic. Make sure it is attached, not damaged, and there is no corrosion in the plug.
