Transmission will not shift into gear?

Started with having to put it back in park several times before going into gear. Now it won't go into gear at all. My friend has a computer, and it reads neutral even when in Drive. The transmission hasn't been slipping

I would change out the gear range sensor here are the location and instructions on how to do so in the images below. Check out the images (below). Please let us know if you need anything else to get the problem fixed.
