This vehicle has had lean burn removed and I noticed that some of the old ignition wiring for the former dual pickup distributor has been left in place. Today I found a blue wire coming out of a harness in back of the alternator with a connector on the end but not connected to anything. It looked like it headed for the front of the engine but it was not easy to see where it might have connected. For some reason wiring harnesses for this model are hard to find online.Do later models of this same body have the same wiring harness?

Good evening,

Can you post some pictures of the wiring?

Sorry for the wait but here it is: The blue wire comes out of a harness at the back of the alternator and it has a spade connector on the end. There is no vacant connector on the alternator and the wire looks long enough to connect to something on the front of the engine, I can't see where it would go using a mirror so this is why I was hoping to find a wiring diagram.

Does the system charge when it runs? They did offer a dual field alternator and that would explain that wire. You have a single field on there now.

Thank you for your insight. That could very well be the explanation.
