I am afraid your idea just is not going to work. This system is far more complicated than you are expecting. There is a single switch that sends varying voltages due to different amounts of resistance in the wire that the module matches up with the specific request.

It sounds like all you have is a bad clockspring that would be far easier to replace than trying to make this system work alternatively.

Thanx for replying. You are correct, clock spring is the problem! The steering wheel is in a 2005 Winnebago. The wheel is manufactured by Vehicle Improvement Products (VIP) the clock spring is manufactured by Douglas Autotech Corp. neither will answer phone or emails. I have contacted Winnebago they say it is a Freightliner problem and two Freightliner dealers I contacted did not even know about a clock spring. I have been trying to resolve this problem for almost a year checking with different RV repair shops in different states like Camping world and they have no one that can work on steering wheels or they just do not want to. I was thinking I should be able to unplug the steering wheel controls and wire the wiper motor straight to a on off hi lo switch like the speedway universal switch I have. Am I wrong?

Yes, you are definitely wrong for the reasons I just explained to you. Can you not get a part number off the clock spring and Google it?

I hesitate to take things apart as this is my home and transportation. I think the Part #DAC 1900043 is correct, but I have not been able to find anything. I have had Autozone and others look as well.

It took me exactly two minutes to find one on E-bay. I am sure there are others also.
