Wipers will not shut off

I use the wipers and go to turn them off and they just stay running only stop when I turn key off.

Hi,

Either the switch has failed or there is a short to power. My first suspect is the switch. However, I want you to try something. Remove the wiper fuse in the interior fuse box. See pic 1. See if they still turn on. If they do, then we have a short to power (a different power supply). If they don't, replace the switch.

PROCEDURE
REMOVE LOWER STEERING COLUMN COVER
NOTICE:

Removing the lower steering column cover in the incorrect order will cause the parts to break.

Release the tilt lever, and fully extend and lower the steering column.
Lock the tilt lever.
Turn the steering wheel assembly to the left and remove the screw.

Turn the steering wheel assembly to the right and remove the screw.

Turn back the steering wheel assembly to the center.
Disengage the 2 claws.

Disengage the 2 claws.

Insert your fingers into the opening of the tilt lever of the lower steering column cover and disengage the 2 claws .

HINT:

Spread the claw to disengage them.

Disengage the 2 claws to remove the lower steering column cover.
REMOVE UPPER STEERING COLUMN COVER
Disengage the 2 claws and remove the upper steering column cover.

REMOVE WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH ASSEMBLY
Disconnect each connector.

Turn the steering wheel assembly to the right.
Using a screwdriver, disengage the claw and remove the windshield wiper switch assembly as shown in the illustration.
NOTICE:

If the claw is pushed with excessive force, it may break.

PROCEDURE
INSTALL WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH ASSEMBLY
Turn the steering wheel assembly to the right.
Engage the claw to install the windshield wiper switch assembly.

Connect each connector.
INSTALL UPPER STEERING COLUMN COVER
Engage the 2 claws to install the upper steering column cover.
INSTALL LOWER STEERING COLUMN COVER
NOTICE:

If the lower steering column cover is installed in the incorrect order, the parts may break.

Engage the 8 claws to install the lower steering column cover.
Turn the steering wheel assembly to the left and install the screw.
Turn the steering wheel assembly to the right and install the screw.

Hoping the original respondent (Joe) might see this. Currently having this exact issue with a 2001 Toyota Corolla Fielder wagon. Note, removing fuse did turn wipers off. So, assuming this means a switch issue? Do you have similar detailed instructions for replacing that for this model?
