The windshield wiper motor went out on this car a week ago. It made an awful noise and the wipers moved very unevenly across the windshield. It quit all together the second time I went to check it - likely blown fuse or something. I tried to gentle work the wipers but they would not move at all. I pull the motor and checked the linkage. Linkage was fine. I replaced the motor, but I do not know where the fuse is for the wipers, or it their is a relay that could impact the wipers. Nissan is very bad about making information available to fix this stuff. I can figure it out, but if I knew which fuses and relays controlled the thing, it would make life easier. Can you identify fuses and relays that control power to the wiper motor? It has no power right now.

Thanks for your help everyone. I just had my windshield replaced. Shortly thereafter, I changed my windshield wiper blades. The right one comes on and wipes, but the driver's side wiper comes half way up, stops and doesn't work anymore. The wipers were both working properly before changing the blades. I honestly do not believe it had anything to do with the windshield repair either. When I look at the driver's side wiper, it looks to be bent a little though. How can I fix this myself?

If the wiper motor is working the regulator that connects the motor to the wiper arms will be faulty, normally a broken pivot drop out the wiper motor to check the pivot.

Hi deedee08,

Check the fuses for the wiper and horn.

For the door locking by themselves, check the door lock actuators and linkages.

Should be nothing to do with the alternator.

The wipers will sometimes work on the low speed but most of the time they don't, also, when wipers are switched off they will stop right where they are instead of returning to the down position and thus obstructing my view. If i try too i can time it just right and catch them in the down position but then im not paying full attention to the road. Any Suggestions/Advise

Hi there,

the windscreen wiper regulator has failed, this is a rather tricky thing to replace, your mechanic will be the best person for the job.

dealer sales them they are about $20 or so each

You need to get to the wiper transmision and see what came apart. Call the dealer with your vin to see if the wiper linkages are available separatley or as a unit (transmission)

Electrical problem
1993 Nissan Sentra 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

My vehicle is equiped with the standard off/low/high wiper switch. I would like to convert it to a switch that has a delay option. I think I need to change a relay and buy an alternate wiper switch but I am not sure if this can be done. I am requesting help to identify which relay I would have to replace (as well as what to replace it with) and if there is a delayed wiper switch for my year vehicle. I cant seem to find one online at the autostores. If there is not, can I use an aftermarket switch, and do you have any recommendations.
Thanks for taking your time to help.

It can be done, but it is a long and timely process. You will need to start with a multi function switch out of another Sentra with delay option. You will also need the wiper amplifier (high power relay). I am not sure where the location for B13, but for B14, it is located in the passenger side kick panel. Your vehicle should have the wiring harness for it, except no relay.

While working on my son's car I grounded the positive side of battery to something in the car. Now the windshield wipers will not shut off and there is a short somewhere. Is it possible I shorted off the relay and if so is it located next to fuses in car on drivers side? There was something down there that got pretty hot. Could that be problem and if so how to get to it. I can see it but not see how to get out. Thank you.

doing what you did happens a lot if you ever want to disconnect battery always do the negative side first. You could have burnt anything up . there is a fuse for this but no relay so best to check this it may be a switch or amplifier in switch. See pictures check grounds in pictures as well. the switch grounds the motor to work.

It rained hard last week and my driver side windshield wiper stopped working. The other windshield wiper is fine and works well. I can't imagine the motor is bad. Let me know what you think.

Check the nut that holds the wiper arm. Make sure that it is tight. There is also a shaft connecting the driver side wiper arm to the wiper motor. Make sure that they are connected.
