Window wipers get 'stuck' on the first setting, intermittent issue

Hello. I am having an issue with the front wipers. It has been recommended I have the motor and linkage replaced which would cost me around £300. My front window wiper keeps jamming in the same position Intermittently on setting 1, it does not do it every time. It generally works fine on setting 2 and above. I have linked a recording of what happens so you can see what I am talking about. Am I just going to have to shell out £300 for a new motor and hope for the best or is there a cheaper alternative I can try first?
