Hi,
When this happens, does it then start right back up? Have you checked fuel pressure? If it doesn't start right back up, have you checked for spark?
What you describe sounds like it could be a bad crankshaft position sensor. If it fails to restart right away, check to see if there is spark to the plugs. Here is a link that explains how that is done and one that explains common symptoms related to the sensor's failure:

If you have a live data scanner, see if there is an RPM signal when if doesn't restart.
