Hello, I’m looking for some advice about my hybrid system.
I have a Toyota Prius with about 155,000 miles. I scanned the car with an OBD2 scanner and found these permanent codes:
• P0A80
• P0A94
• P0A7A
Recently the dashboard stopped showing the hybrid battery bars and instead displays a message saying “Stop the vehicle in a safe place.” The car also seems to be in limp mode and won’t go much above ~40 mph.
From my research, P0A80 often indicates the hybrid battery pack is failing, and I’m considering replacing the battery myself. However, I’m not sure if the other two codes might indicate a separate issue with the inverter or generator.
My question is:
If I replace the hybrid battery pack, is it likely that these three codes will clear, or should I be diagnosing the inverter or other hybrid components first?
I’m comfortable doing the battery replacement myself, but I’d like to make sure I’m addressing the root cause before buying a replacement battery.
