Will not turn over but all lights come on

We replaced a bad battery but car will not turn over. All lights come on but it makes clicking sound. Gave code for bad O2 sensor which I know could relate to several problems. Any suggestions that would give those symptoms? Last time it was driven with the new battery it sputtered & jerked & then all power went out.

Is the engine cranking over but not starting? or is it not cranking over at all? If I understand what you've said correctly it looks like you have a bad electrical connection at the battery or a low charged battery.
Try moving the battery terminal clamps by handle you should not be able to move them. They should be tight. Is the battery charged 12.5 volts and above 9.5volts when attempting to start?

It starts to but then does the clicking sound. My husband bought a volt meter & tested it & it seems like it might be the alternator.

Let me know what you find.
Testing at the battery (assuming electrical connections are good) with volt meter with the engine running you should see around 13.5-14 volts. This tell you the alternator is providing a charge.
