Why does this have a lot of play in the steering wheel? If it is ball joints what is the cost to replace?

,This could be from a few things. Check tie rods, idler arm and pitman arm for play. Also, the steering gear could be worn and causing this. It's best that you check all steering components to confirm they are good before looking at the steering gear.
