Hey guys, I changed my starter, the ignition switch, and got a new battery. I can turn the key and still get nothing, but the light on the dashboard comes on. I can jump it by the starter relay fuse, but it only turns over like it wants to start.

Hey OMAR200679,

When you are jumping the starter relay fuse and the starter is turning the engine over have you got the ignition switched on - dash lights on?

Have any of the parts you replaced made any changes to the fault?

Hey OMAR200679,

It seems like you have a power distribution problem.

Can you please check all fuses in the under hood fuse box?

The link below shows how to visually check the fuse is in tact and test for power to both sides of the fuse with a test light.

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-check-a-car-fuse

Some of the fuses will only have power with the ignition on.

Which fuse have you been jumping to get the engine to crank?

Let me know how you get on or if you have any further questions

Regards, Joe

Hey SHUGHES013,

Have you checked all fuses in the under hood fuse box?

What are you jumping when you get it to turn over?

Attach a photo if possible.

If it cranks when jumped you do not have a starter problem.

You will need to be clearer if i am to point you in the right direction.

How did the fault occur originally?

Did the vehicle cut out and the not start or just not start after shut down?

Regards, Joe

It had the battery light on the dash it stayed on so I took it to get an inspection done on it and then the guy had one of his mechanics look at it. then when I went to get it and the guy said he can’t get it to start by the key. so I started replacing the parts that I thought he may have messed up. but I have not checked the fuses yet.

Hey OMAR200679,

Did the mechanic replace anything?

You need to check the fuses before we go any further and let me know what you find.

Hello,

Is the security light flashing when you try to crank it over? If so here is a guide to help you reset the system if not here is a guide and the starter wiring diagrams so you can see how the system works:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-reset-a-security-system

and

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/starter-not-working-repair

Check out the diagrams (below). Please let us know what you find. We are interested to see what it is.
