Runs but when stopped it shuts off. White smoke comes out of tail pipe.

Hello, I'm Danny.
White smoke usually denotes a head gasket issue.This means the head gasket has failed and now engine coolant is being burned during the engines combustion process.It's a fixable repair but is costly. I've also noticed your truck has 268,000 miles so a $2,000.00 repair on an engine with that high of a mileage must be taken into consideration. Here is a tutorial for you to view:

No, each cylinder head has only one gasket. The intake manifold has one gasket per side as well.Let me know if you have any further questions about this considering this is a very big job.Hope this helps and thanks again for using 2CarPros.
