Yes i know it has high mileage. here is my issue: Upon accelerating there is a whining, whirring, winding noise. It is not present in park or reverse. I did just have a major power steering leak to which the high pressure power steering line replaced. Upon replacing that the return line got a hole in it from it rubbing against the oil pan or manifold (which ever is closest to it) replaced return line. Driver side hub/wheel bearing assembly replaced. The car runs very well and has no apparent continual slippage. It has happened a couple times shifting gears and hard shifts. used Lucas stop slip and has not happened since. However, the noise explained is continual and happens entire time in drive while accelerating. I have read several different things it could be, the water pump beginning to go, torque converter, transmission beginning to fail, rack and pinion bearing, power steering pump beginning to fail, and or the drive-train. Has anyone else experienced this particular noise with said power steering pump lines being replaced? I am more inclined to lean toward rack and pinion bearing starting to fail or power steering pump failing, but considering the mileage despite great car maintenance and no apparent issues beforehand, i am not sure. Mind you I am not a mechanic by any means but have been very successful at diagnosing issues from sounds, handling, and overall smoothness during driving. I am not very financially well off and am trying to keep up on preventative maintenance and diagnosing problems before they compromise any other components resulting in vehicle completely breaking down. Thoughts or definitive vehicle diagnosis?
