whining noise in the engine

When I rev up a little my car makes a whining noise and it will not engage gear. If it does, it disengages when warm up and will not engage until cools down. The noise is very disturbing.

Sounds like an internal problem with the transmission, you can start with checking oil and condition, check for any fault codes and get a transmission line pressure test done, this will check transmission oil pressure, there are a number of reasons that can cause your problem, but we need to do some basic diagnosis first, if the problem is internal, it will require the transmission to be inspected first hand by a professional in transmission work as they are very complex.
