After running off the road in an accident, my vehicle now makes a whining noise and is difficult to steer sharply. The whining also happens just while riding and idling.

Hello,

The whining noise could be from the power steering pump.
The pump can make the whining noise due to being low on fluid or having internal failure. This will make it difficult to turn.

First check the power steering fluid level to make sure it is at the correct level and in good condition.
It is possible that a hose got damaged or disconnected and leaked out fluid.

Take a look at this helpful guide:

When you ran off the road it could have damaged the rack and pinion which can also make it difficult to turn.

Let me know what you find or if you have any questions.
Thank you.

Thank you very much. It was low on fluid but I had just checked it 2 days ago, but I did put more in. I will keep an eye out for any leaking. Your site is awesome!
