While driving engine made a weird sound?

While driving down the road around 35 MPH vehicle made a noise as if someone took the shifter and slammed it back into park. Sorta like stripping gears sound it started bucking and shutting off. Limped it hone and found codes for timing correlation and cam sensor and crank sensor malfunctioning. Replaced both and while doing the relearn with my Snap-On Soleus scanner engine made another weird stripping gear sound and shut off. It would crank but sounded like low compression which i verified. Low compression now. I also inspected the driver side timing chain and found the nylon chain tensioner had broken in half. Is it possible to just replace the broken adjuster and reset the timing?

Yes, the 2.7-liter engine in the 2010 Dodge Charger is an interference engine. An interference engine is one in which the pistons and valves occupy the same space within the combustion chamber but at different times. If the timing belt or chain were to fail or jump timing in an interference engine, the pistons and valves can collide, potentially causing severe engine damage. So, if the timing chain has let go and now the engine does not have compression there is a change the valves got bent as well. Here is how to change the timing chain out in case you want to give it a try. Check out the images (below). Thanks for the fast reply, I appreciate it. one other question for you, should I consider removing the heads off of that engine as well and have them taken down to machine shop and have them tested.
