The driver's side and rear vents are blowing hot air while the passenger side is blowing cold and I believe I need to change them all but am having trouble locating the ones on the driver's side.

If the right side is working but the left side, isn't you should be able to change only the left side. There are only the three actuators as in the last image. For the left side you remove the throttle pedal and look to the right of it on the HVAC case and the actuator is there. Remove the screws and the electrical connector and reverse the process to install the new one.

That's strange. The mode actuator would be the one in the middle (8) and it just selects where the air goes, not the temperature of it, or is that what you meant originally, that you couldn't select where the air went and not that you couldn't change the temperature? Either way, glad to hear you found the issue.

The temperature couldn’t be controlled for the vents in unison but I’m glad it worked as well.

Ok, so the left side isn’t blowing the warm air anymore of course but it’s still not as cold as the passenger side. Any idea on what may be causing this?

Check the actuator and make sure it has full travel. Beyond that you would want to have the charge state in the system checked. A low charge can cause odd symptoms depending on the core design.

What do you mean by full travel?

I have seen some new parts that were trash, Say it's a blend door, they should be set up so the door moves from a seated position closed to a seated position open, some don't have the power to do that and the door doesn't fully close and you get heat blended into the airstream.

It doesn't take much, even bad seals on the door can cause a temperature difference because the heat is always there.

About the only way that doesn't involve taking things apart will involve a camera so you can go in and look. These days they make nice cheap inspection cameras and many parts stores have them as loaner tools. Snake one in through the vent and watch the doors as they move. Will show you problems very fast.

Hi, I’ve tried all of the recommended things and it still hasn’t fixed the issue unfortunately. What next step should I consider?

Did you go in and verify that the doors and seals were working? If yes then the next step would be to put a set of gauges on the system and see what the pressures are, it's possible you have a low charge in the system.

Yes I looked at the seals and they are fine. It was blowing cold for a few days but then started blowing hot air again. I’ll try the gauges now.

If it was working but then stopped I would check the pressures and see what stopped working.

I haven’t tried the gauges yet but I did get it back to blowing cold air. My climate control button has been acting weird too and isn’t responding properly. I’m starting to think there’s an electrical issue. The air speed button is fine but the climate control button acts very wonky.

That is possible, there are a lot of electronics behind those buttons. Might be worth it to get one from a salvage yard and see if things change. If it was blowing cold it may not be the refrigerant system but the controls. Do you have the automatic system (Set it to 70 and it does the rest) or the manual controls? They use a few different parts.

For that one you still need a scan tool to pull the FICM build info out of the current one and then put that into the replacement. Why they want everything to be a computer is just annoying, Especially for heater controls... Also look up all the options your vehicle has, Ford made different FICM assemblies for each option! At least with the manual controls it drops to three possible units.

Have you looked on ebay? It looks like there were 3 units available with the manual temp controls. One with heated seats and satellite - DS7Z18842T One with heated seats but no satellite - DS7Z18842AA And the base version with no sat or heated seats - FS7Z18842DA
Search using those and there are a bunch that show up.
