Hey! I wanted to get some opinions on noise I’ve been hearing on my listed above Limited model.
So, I just replaced both front wheel bearings about two weeks ago but I still hearing a wheel bearing-like noise. The noise does not change when turning left or right. It’s constant and gets louder the faster I go. Today, I lifted it up to spin each wheel and feel for loose play. Rear wheels seem fine. I didn't feel any play or vibration in the coil springs. But I noticed my passenger front side wheel only spun freely for about 5 seconds. Then, my driver's front wheel spun freely for about 14 seconds. So, at first, I was thinking I had a seized caliper. I also need to replace/rebuild the cv axle on my passenger side since the inner boot has been torn and grease has been slinging around a bit.
Could a seized caliper or leaky CV axle cause a wheel bearing-like noise?
I am running BFG KO2s and I swapped the spare tire on the side where I thought the noise was coming from but there was no difference. I’m thinking about rotating the front tires to the rear to see if the noise follows but wanted to get some feedback so I can consider any other checks while troubleshooting.

A bad CV joint can cause a growl if it has grit in it, however a bad bearing type noise would more likely be a carrier bearing. I would probably drain the fluid out of the differential and pull the cover to inspect the bearings and gears for damage as well as the oil for glitter that would be the metals breaking down.

Thanks for the response, Steve! Should have mentioned this as well. I had my rear differential rebuilt with OEM parts about 2 years ago. Didn’t see any leaks from the housing or hear anything abnormal from the rear when checking yesterday.

Might be time to check the front differential then. Those gears and bearings do turn while you're driving as well.
