What size belt I need to belt bypass the AC compressor

Though they don't have sizes for what you are asking but you can find the correct size by trail and error as long as you have a starting off point which is here and use the diagrams below to estimate how much shorter you need then the auto parts store can help. You may need to buy more than one and take the others back.

Serpentine Belt - 4861850AB - $14.70

I would estimate about 20 inches shorter. Check out the diagrams (below). Please let us know what happens.

AC compressor has locked up. I was going to get shorter belt to bypass the compressor. does anyone know the size belt it would take for a 3.5 engine?

this has to be done hunt and peck style at auto parts store there is no set belt for doing this.

Your right, but if anyone has the same problem and they will, it takes 80.5 belt from AutoZone!

I have a 2006 Pacifica with the 3.5 L and AWD. I used a 80 3/4 in belt. The part number is 060802 at Napa, box also says 6pk2038. I tried one that was 80 1/8 first, but it was too small. 80 3/4 seemed perfect.

There are a few belts that will fit. The trick is to find the one that puts the tension-er the closest to its proper position. For that an 80 1/4 - 80 1/2 runs about right. The 6PK2038 listed above is an 80 1/2 inch pitch length belt. So it should work just fine.

If you run into a parts store that wants make/model/engine, Tell them it is for a 2004 Isuzu Rodeo 3.5 and no AC.

Would anyone be able to tell me or show me how to reroute the belt with out the A/C compressor?

There isn't a specific predetermined way. However, I attached a pic below showing how I would at least try to do it.

Can I take the idle pulley off that's underneath the power steering? That's the only way that belt works for me because it seems to be about 3 inches to short.

I went and got the same belt everyone else has and tried routing it like the picture above, but it seems to be short. it's a 2006 Pacifica AWD, with the 3.5.

I wouldn't recommend doing that. I feel the belt will slip at the power steering pump. Are you able to get a different length belt? Have you tried it bypassing that pulley?

I have my old belt and my new belt. The new belt will work on the lower half of that pulley but won't work over the top, it's still on. I just left it there until I can get back to it here in a couple days, I did leave the pulley on.

What if you have a 2.5L engine and not a 3.5L?? What size belt would you need then, if you are bypassing the AC compressor??

There is a 3.5 and a 3.8 in these cars for this year? What year is your car?
