what is this part or what is this period?

I jacked my car up and the went underneath as i turn the wheel left and right it is making this like clicking sound from where my axle goes into the transmission. What could be causing this?

it may be a broken clip or because it's jacked up to far, have the axles checked for correct mounting in trans.
