What is the box on top of rear exhaust

So when I was checking the rear for oil leaks. I found a box right above the rear or the exhaust and it was missing a connection. There is a honeycomb shape (filter?) inside that box and I later found the connector for it. It appears that the connector tube is chipped and that’s why it can’t stay connected. What is that box and can I repair the connector?

It sounds like the evap canister but want to be sure.

It’s the white tube like connector.

That is the evap line for the canister. The vent will be open as it vents to atmosphere.

This one disconnected when it I checked it. The reason because the clip that goes inside the canister is broken so it doesn’t hold that well. So how can I replace that? What was happening throughout the time that was disconnected?

Is the check engine light on with a code stored? You can have the codes checked at a parts store for free.

If I recall, the only code that comes up is a P0430 but that’s for something else.

Okay, the 430 is a bad catalytic converter on the driver's side. The catalytic converter is part of the header pipe. It is replaced as an assembly with both catalytic converters.

Can’t the P0430 code also have to do with exhaust manifold leaks? About a week ago I used JD weld to cover those leaks but I haven’t reset the code yet. I was hoping it would go away by itself. But if it’s a catalytic converter thing then that’s something I have to replace when I have the funds.

Try it and see. If it does not work, then yes, replace the catalytic converter.
