EPS light turned on and power steering stopped working

Hello, sorry to hear of your issue, the electronic power steering has a few different components that need to be checked. There's the electric motor, the wiring harness, sensors, and a module (computer) that controls and reads inputs. you can do a visual inspection for any lose connections. besides that, it will require testing for certain voltage signals and proper grounds. As soon as the system sees any fault it shuts down and sets the light for safety purposes. It's not a system you want to fail at 70 mph down the highway. So if you're unsure about testing then I would recommend taking it to a qualified technician.

Hi, thank you for your fast response. i have tried under the steering column for lose connections and adjusted the torque sensor still the same issue. how could i go about testing the voltage could the battery have anything to do with it? Many thanks .

If you had a charging system problem there would be other things happening as well, you can check it just put a multi meter on the battery, should read 13.6 to 14.2 somewhere in that range. The module that controls the EPS will have wire(s) that power it up and ground wires as well, do you have a scan tool that you can see live data on?

I use an obd2 reader that shows no faults apart from that i have no other scanning tools. I may have a friend that has some tools i don't have. what would be able to scan the live wires and the ground wire ? I do have a voltage meter on order awaiting it to arrive.

9 times out of 10 it will be the steering motor.
