I noticed a few weeks ago when I accelerated, it makes a weird rattling sound like a lawnmower. It only made it when accelerating. Now, it’s the exact opposite. It makes the sound when I am stopping and turning. The sound is so loud, and you can hear it from the inside and the outside, as before you could only hear it inside. It’s on coming from the left front passenger side. Help please. I have had a tune up recently within the past month. The sound went away for a week then came back. So tired of spending money.

Hi,

If it is loud enough to record and upload, please do so. That way I can hear it, and it will help me give you suggestions.

On the other hand, are you sure it isn't something like a heat shield? Try this. Take a rubber mallet and tap on the exhaust system to see if you can recreate the noise.

Try that and let me know what you find,

Joe

Here is a video. The sound is most evident at the end.

Hi,

I believe I heard it. To me, it sounds like a low rumble and not a rattle.

It's difficult not to be there, so I need you to check a few things. Please remember that I'm listening to it on a laptop.

Could the noise be coming from the engine compartment? Is the engine oil clean and full? If you open the hood with it running, do you hear anything under the hood that sounds off? For example, a bearing noise from the engine or belt-driven accessory?

Next, is there anything that changes the pitch or volume of the noise? For example, if you are driving, hear it, and turn. Does it change? Does it change if you use the brakes?

One final question. Have you inspected the drive axles (CV Axles) for evidence of grease leaking from a boot or excessive play?

Look through the links and let me know if anything seems to mirror what you experienced. Also, and I should have asked this first, is the check engine light on, and does the engine seem to be running normally, and am I correct when I say it sounds like a low rumble?

Let me know.

Joe
