So my belts were squeaking and I had WD-40 and a Belt Spray. I went on YouTube and this guy said to use WD-40. I am new to this car thing and I used WD-40. I went online to double check and I am starting to see that everyone's saying that WD-40 is bad because it is a lubricant and I need friction in the bands. What do I do! ( I already applied WD-40 like a dummy. lol)

all these people put all types of crap on you tube . belts are a wear item like brakes and batteries. recommended replacement is 60,000 miles unless California and belt and tension-er should be replaced because of the problem you are experiencing. make sure to try to clean the WD-40 off pulleys with choke cleaner or brake clean if you decide to replace belt. It dries quick.

WD40 is a solvent, removes rust etc. In time it will eat up those belts,do not use belt dressing,it's a joke, like HMAC300 said it's a wear item, nothing lasts foreever
