Water pump and timing belt

There are no charts or books that list common hand tools for a repair procedure. Mechanics grab a wrench that looks right, then grab a larger or smaller one as needed. Some prefer using wrenches, some use ratchets and sockets, and some use air tools. Some use whatever they have in their toolboxes.

This is a very involved job and the potential exists for you to do serious damage to the engine. Before you even think of replacing the timing belt yourself, get a copy of the manufacturer's service manual, and read through the many pages of instructions. That will include line drawings, a section showing special tools that might be needed, and a list of torque specs. This is an interference engine. If you crank the engine in an attempt to start it, with the timing belt off as little as three teeth, the pistons will hit the valves and bend them.
