Oil light came on, had loss of power. Thought possible oil pump. Drained oil found water in oil. Can water get in oil besides head gasket, or cracked block?

Yes, it the engine has an oil cooler it can get in that way, Some engines have coolant going through the intake manifold and can let it in that way. Other than that, cracked head or cracked block are the most common.
If the oil has a red tinge like trans fluid, it could be a bad radiator.

Also, car did not over heat. If not warped, could I put new gasket without machining?

Never. You have to send it out to be both pressure tested and surface machined.
