I just bought this vehicle and there seems to be a leak from possibly the oil cooler into the oil.

Hi Mindy,

Obviously this is not a good thing but there are a number of possible causes. Here is a guide that will walk you through the most of them:

However, since you just bought the vehicle, it will be a good idea to run a compression check even if you find out this issue is being caused by something other than a head gasket. This is just a baseline of what the engine's health is and making sure it is okay is a good thing to know.

Please review this info and let me know what questions you have. Unfortunately, we will need to check these things out in order to know what the issue is but the head gasket failing is the most common cause.

Let me know what you find and we can go from there.
